Most of us
When we receive feedback . . arch our back
like a cat waiting to pounce.
Or flee.
We rumble it against all that we know to be true
about ourselves.
We are clever, worldly and learn-ed in our
own eyes
and they are open.
But some cats hesitate.
They turn back to you with questioning eyes.
They too have the instinctual desire
to scratch or flee or fight
but they resist.
Instead asking how is that true
from what you are seeing here?
Or perhaps kinship in it’s most feline form
How might that be true
from where you stand?
Their reaction most likely depends
on whether they believe that
the world likes cats.
Or doesn’t.
But all cats
big and small
were kittens once
and can be again.
If that interests them.
